Weekly Wine News Around the Web

Great Harvest for CA: Reports from all corners of the State of California indicate this year’s bounty of grapes will be large and exceptional due to optimal weather conditions, according to this report. Recent rains may have hastened picking, but did not impact what is thought to be a near “perfect” harvest for the state in 2012. A Napa Valley-specific update can be found here.

Kurniawan Postscript: The legal maneuverings involving alleged wine counterfeiter Rudy Kurniawan will continue for some time, but I found this tidbit from the author of one of the best articles on the saga, published in Vanity Fair magazine, very interesting. Catch him if you can indeed.

New Center for WA State: Washington State University will benefit from a new $17 million Wine Science Center for research and development of the Washington state wine industry, expected to be completed in time for the 2014 harvest, according to this report.

Halloween Favorites: Leave it to the winner of the Best New Wine Blog award at the 2012 Wine Blog Awards to offer some timely tips on potential Halloween wines. Check out this post from Wine Julia – There’s some great wine labels. Boo!
